COVER REVEAL: Stratus - Fallen Skies: Book One, by Miranda Brock

One of the nice things about having a blog is being able to help out a fellow author now and then - always a pleasure, and I'm happy to help Miranda Brock reveal the (very pretty) cover of her new book. Which is now available for pre-order. Check out the information below - and you can keep up with the latest from Miranda by following her Twitter account here.

Stratus
Fallen Skies: Book One

Coming August 21!
Pre-Order: bit.ly/Stratus1

Lily Calhoun wants nothing more than some excitement on her quiet, small-town life. When she gets caught in a storm one afternoon she gets more than she bargained for. Excitement suddenly falls into her life, literally.

Stratus is mysterious, fun, and has a danger to him that Lily finds herself drawn to. Learning that he is either a demon or an angel only makes him more irresistible. But when strangers start turning up dead in her town, Lily begins to fear her new found flame may be the cause.

Caught in a tempest of lies, secrets, and betrayals, Lily must discover who Stratus really is behind his stormy eyes. Is it an angel who will win her heart, or will it be a demon who stakes his claim?

REVEALED! The cover for Inklings Press anthology Tales of Wonder

Inklings Press is nearing the launch date for its next anthology - which means it's time to reveal the cover for the new collection. Without further ado, and with a tip of the hat to Ricardo Victoria as ever for his work on the covers, we bring you...

More than that, as you can see, we can announce the line-up for the collection.

From the top, we have:

E.M. Swift-Hook, author of the Fortune's Fools books. You can find those on Amazon. You can also follow her on Twitter.

Matthew Harvey returns after last featuring in Tales From The Universe. Check out his free story here on the site, Foxwife. You can also find him on Twitter.

Jessica Holmes joins in the fun again after featuring in the previous two anthologies, Tales From The Universe and Tales From Alternate Earths. You can read her free story A Night To Remember here on the site, and find her on Twitter here.

Rob Edwards is another to return after appearances in the previous two anthologies. You can read his flash fiction piece Throne War here on the site, but frankly you should take a wander over to storycastrob.co.ukhttp://storycastrob.co.uk/ and indulge in Rob's podcast readings of his stories. You can find him on Twitter too.

Leo McBride appears fresh from appearing in the Anthology Askew collection. He is a regular in the Inklings anthologies, and of course, the head honcho here at Altered Instinct. You'll find plenty of his words here - but you might want to start with his free story In The Stars We Learned To Soar. He has a Facebook author page and Twitter for updates too.

Brent A Harris was the driving force behind the last anthology, focusing on alternative history. That's very much his genre - as you can read here with his announcement of his publishing deal for his book A Time Of Need. His free story The Long Breakfast is something of a teaser for that world. You can find him on Facebook,  and Twitter.

Terri Pray returns after making her Inklings debut in Tales From Alternate Earths. Terri has a host of writing out there - she is an author and editor in chief at Underthemoon/FSW, producing both RPGs and fiction. She blogs at rpgfridayfiction.blogspot.com and you can find her on Twitter at @TerriPray_UTM. You can also find her on Facebook.

Jeff Provine makes his Inklings debut in this collection. Jeff is a lecturer in Oklahoma, USA, tackling topics such as Charles Chaplin, mythology, and the history of comic books. He collects local folklore and has created three walking tours of ghost stories in the Oklahoma City metro. His fictional works include YA adventure Dawn on the Infinity, steampunk Celestial Voyages, and alternate history Hellfire. He is on Twitter @JeffProvine, on Facebook , and you can read some of his twists on history at http://thisdayinalternatehistory.blogspot.com/

Last, but far from least, is the top man behind this anthology, Ricardo Victoria. Science fantasy, the theme of the collection, is very much Ricardo's genre of choice. From Star Wars to anime, Saturday morning cartoons to... well, his own writing, that's the work that Ricardo loves to read, watch and create. Ricardo is a regular in Inklings Press collections, and you can find him on Twitter as Winged_Leo and on Facebook. You can also find a free story by him here, Dealing With The Aftermath.

It's a great set of writers - and we hope you'll soon enjoy a great set of stories. Come join our launch party on January 21 - we'd love to get to know you!

The book is available now to pre-order on Amazon - dive on in, you know you want to: myBook.to/Wonder

COVER REVEAL: Perennials, by Bryce Gibson

Author Bryce Gibson borrows the blog for a very special announcement - the cover reveal of his new book! Take it away, Bryce.

The release date for the book is June 3, 2016.  It is currently available for pre-order on Kindle for $5.99.

From the author of Unclaimed Acre comes a novel of Southern terror...

Summer in South Carolina - a time of ripe peaches, crackling bonfires, trips to the lake, and the rural legend of a creature known as the “Lizard Man”.

This year, a very real monster is lurking about.

The victims all have one thing in common - they share their names with plants.

Soon it becomes apparent that seventeen-year-olds Dusty Miller and Nandina Bush may be next on the killer’s list.

"Bryce's writing style captures you from the first sentence." - Charles Campbell, author of Cinnamon Tea and Mrs. Fields' Journal

To find out more about Bryce, you can check out the links below. Best of luck with the new book, Bryce!

COVER REVEAL: Tales From The Universe - the latest anthology from Inklings Press

Inklings Press editor Brent A. Harris reveals the cover of the new science fiction anthology Tales From The Universe - designed by Ricardo Victoria - as the countdown to publication begins!

Before we launch our science fiction anthology this weekend, I wanted to take a personal moment to share how excited and overwhelmed I’ve been at the prospect of our third anthology. I believe our editor hit the nail on head in our foreword when he talks about the future of Inklings Press. Six months ago, we were nobodies with an idea of creating an outlet for aspiring writers. At first, we had to test the waters for ourselves and get a feel for the self-publishing world. Tales from the Mists and Tales from the Tavern accomplished that. Tales from the Universe now marks the departure for us into a larger world.

This launch has a quality to it that I can’t quite describe; I can only tell you that the realness of this release is palpable. Tales from the Universe has doubled in size and scope. The stories in it are ambitious and there is real talent to be discovered within its pages. This is a book that I know, without doubt, belongs in your book collection. Perhaps I’m being a bit biased, or a little excited, but I believe in this anthology, and the aspiring authors who’ve made this the most satisfying, enjoyable, project I’ve had the pleasure to work with. And I think that joy shows within the pages of the final product.

It certainly shows in our cover, designed by Ricardo Victoria. I love the concept of a masked individual staring out across the vast expanse, with the stars and the planets looming close. In the most literal sense, the stars are closer to us than ever before. Humans develop at such an exponential rate, and as we’ve seen with older science fiction movies like, Back to the Future, what we once thought of as our future has now become our past.

How quickly time moves. Six months ago, we were that masked person, staring out into the beyond. Now, we are here, proud to introduce you to our latest launch. While we are not where we want to be, (fabulously wealthy, sipping Pina Coladas on a beach in Puerto Rico) as we take stock of how far we’ve come, we can’t help but think what tomorrow will bring.

Ricardo, thank you for a lovely cover design. May your future be always full of hope and friendship.

UPDATE: There is a virtual launch party on Facebook this Saturday. Come join us! https://www.facebook.com/events/228140470856498/

COVER REVEAL: The new cover for Quartet, by Leo McBride

via GIPHY

My short story anthology, Quartet, is getting a second edition. Same stories, extra content - with notes about each story and what inspired me to write them, a new introduction and a Q&A about the stories I chose to feature in the fantasy anthology.

And a new cover.

The anthology will be updated on Amazon during this week - and those who bought it previously should be able to automatically upgrade to the new version. More information on that when it goes live.

But for now... here's the new cover.
